Helping
jobseekers find the right information.
The STRIVE Fairfield County program provides
participants with the training and tools to achieve
their best employment and personal potential. STRIVE’s
training focuses on developing positive attitudes and
work habits for successful long-term job retention.
STRIVE is particularly effective for low-income
unemployed and under-employed individuals.
After graduation from an intensive three-week job
readiness workshop, staff focus on helping the graduate
obtain entry-level employment. A unique feature of the
STRIVE program is the two years of post-graduation
employment support that helps keep participants on the
job. A full-time graduate service coordinator helps
solve problems with child care, transportation, and
other services as they are required, to help graduates
keep their focus on sustained, productive employment.
Over 75 percent of STRIVE graduates are still working
two years after graduation. All graduates are also
entitled to lifelong career support through any of the
33 STRIVE offices across the country.
Recognized both nationally and statewide for its
work-readiness program, innovation and effectiveness,
STRIVE attracted broad national attention when it was
featured three times on CBS 60 MINUTES. STRIVE helps men
and women enter the workforce and develop meaningful
career paths. Over 500 participants have graduated from
STRIVE Fairfield County, joining more than 27,000 STRIVE
graduates across the nation.
