Removing barriers t economic self-sufficiency.
Passport to Success provides employment development
services to individuals who are
living in supportive housing and struggling with
multiple barriers to economic self-sufficiency. The goal
of this pilot project is to meet people at their level
of need and provide them with an array of traditional
and non-traditional services that will help them
progress toward unsubsidized employment. Success is
defined on a highly individualized basis.
Career Resources leads this collaborative project. Alpha
Community Services provides case management services,
the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services addresses the
needs of participants with disabilities, and the
Corporation for Supportive Housing is a
collaborator. These organizations work together to
ensure that critical services are in place for program
participants. Training is adapted to participants’ needs
so that they
will succeed at the level of their own abilities and
readiness, and progress toward employment and careers.
The attainment of accomplishments along the way will be
recognized, documented and rewarded. The Melville
Charitable Trust funds this innovative project.
