Expanding opportunities for people with disabilities
EveryOne Works was created specifically to help people
with disabilities find work. If jobseekers need help
understanding written or spoken language, they can use
many types of adaptive equipment, such as computer
stations with speech cards, a Braille embosser, closed
circuit televisions that magnify copy, laser printers,
scanners, wheelchair accessible tables and text
telephones (TTY/TDD). Adaptive software is also
available. Participants can receive help with résumés
and cover letters, career guidance, Internet searches,
and interview techniques. Occupational skills training
is available for those who qualify. EveryOne Works is
also an excellent resource for employers who want more
information and guidance on people with disabilities in
the workforce. There is no cost to employers seeking
professional assistance with hiring, tax credits,
sources of adaptive equipment, and specialized
resources. The project combines the expertise of
organizations such as The Bureau of Rehabilitation
Services, The Board of Education Services for the Blind,
and The Connecticut Department of Labor. EveryOne Works
is a project of The WorkPlace Inc., operated by Career
Resources.
